Dr. Artika R. Tyner is a passionate educator, author, sought-after speaker, and advocate for racial justice. She is committed to inspiring and equipping future leaders and creating new pipelines to success for all students. She was born and raised in Rondo, an economic engine which at its peak housed over 400 Black-owned businesses. When it was severely impacted by displacement due to the Federal Highway system, she felt compelled to not only right that wrong through her law degree, but to cultivate a Black ecosystem and the power of entrepreneurship. Witnessing the effects of illiteracy with her clients in prison, she became committed to bridging the literacy gap and promoting diversity in books in order to disrupt the school-to-prison pipeline and remove a key entry point into the tangled web of mass incarceration. Her fresh and relevant insights into leadership and justice have been featured in a variety of media outlets. She is a prolific, award-winning author of multicultural books. Her #1 International Best Selling book Justice Makes a Difference has reached 9 countries and 36 of the 50 U.S states. It is empowering BIPOC youth all over the world to become community superheroes and plant seeds of justice.

The Economic Independence Youth Anthology and Workshop provides an opportunity for Black youth under 18 and living in Minnesota to become educated on important financial topics while also providing their artistic viewpoints on those topics.
