Harlan Landes

Harlan Landes is a financial independence educator, entrepreneur, and community builder who has been writing about money for more than 20 years. He founded Consumerism Commentary in 2003 and later created the Plutus Foundation to support the people who teach others about money.

After reaching financial independence relatively young, Harlan became increasingly interested in what financial independence actually means once you move beyond the math. His work today explores how people build financial stability and resilience, when money begins creating real choices, what changes as work becomes less financially necessary, and how financial independence can create greater agency in work and life.

Harlan is currently building MOMENTUM, a community designed to help people build and live financial independence, along with the MOMENTUM Financial Independence Toolkit, a growing collection of tools for making better decisions along the way.
