Debt Free Like Me
Grant awarded Spring 2021.
Debt Free Like Me is series of workshops with grade-appropriate lessons for kids and fun and interactive workshops for parents where they will be exposed to essential financial principles.
These workshops will help low-income families and families from underrepresented populations form a firm financial foundation with which youth and their parents will be better equipped to avoid crippling financial mistakes. Unbanked youth and parents will also have an opportunity to open up a bank account.
These are a selection of the classes to be offered:
• Building a Better Budget
• Dumping Debt
• Understanding Your Credit Score...and How to Improve It!
• Following the 10-10-80 Rule (Give 10%, Save 10%, and Spend 80%)
• How to Go To College Debt Free
