Announcing the Plutus Foundation March 2017 Grant Recipients!

Thank you to everyone who submitted a proposal for the March 2017 Plutus Foundation grants! Our request for proposals generated more interest than we expected, and we received a number of fantastic proposals.

It is wonderful to see so many members of the independent financial media community working hard to make their own communities a better — and more financially literate — place.

On behalf of the foundation, we would like to announce the recipients of our second round of grants.

Marsha Barnes

Marsha Barnes is the founder of The Finance Bar, whose mission is to bridge the gap between individuals and financial wellness through the delivery of innovative personalized coaching and financial education to schools, organizations, and corporations.

Marsha requested a Plutus Foundation grant to support “My Finances Are Beautiful,” a bi-monthly event hosted by The Finance Bar. This free event is open to women and couples in the community who are focused and committed to transforming their financial lifestyle. The event provides a safe and judgement-free platform for others to share their financial woes, wins and to learn more about the importance of financial awareness and how we are able to empower one another.

Amanda L. Grossman

Amanda L. Grossman is the founder of Money Prodigy. Amanda requested a Plutus Foundation grant to create and deliver the Mt. Everest Money Simulation Program to students aged 8 to 13 years.

This will be an epic event featuring actual personal finance situations and the decision-making needs of a fictitious climber, Erik, who dreams about summiting Mt. Everest. The Mt. Everest Money Simulation will breathe life into the complexities and necessities of learning financial literacy.

The Plutus Foundation is excited about the opportunity to work with Marsha, Amanda, and their programs.
