Announcing the Spring 2025 Grant Recipients

The Plutus Foundation was thrilled to receive so many outstanding submissions this round. It is our pleasure to announce the grant recipient for Spring 2025, along with those who have been awarded Foundation sponsorships.

Grant Recipient: Financial Resilience for Mental Wellness

The Financial Resilience for Mental Wellness initiative by the California Suicide Prevention Network (CALISPN) addresses the link between financial instability and mental health struggles. This program will provide financial literacy education, mentorship, and workshops for veterans, at-risk individuals, and low-income families, helping them manage financial stress, plan for stability, and build long-term economic resilience.

About the founder

Katisha JallowKatisha Jallow is a passionate mental health advocate, retired U.S. Army Veteran, and the visionary founder of the California Suicide Prevention Network (CALISPN). With 23 years of military service and a deep personal understanding of the challenges faced by underserved communities, veterans, and youth, Katisha established CALISPN to provide accessible mental wellness education and culturally relevant support programs across the counties of California.

Under her leadership, CALISPN focuses on reducing stigma, increasing awareness, and implementing tech-forward mental health solutions—especially for K-12 students and marginalized groups. Katisha’s work is in healing, resilience, and the transformative power of education and community. She has developed a directory of mental health advocates and professionals across each county of California.
Katisha continues to use her voice and platform to uplift others, personally and professionally, and create long-term impact.

Through the grant application process, the Plutus Foundation is introduced to new endeavors in personal finance media. When we can, we are thrilled to be able to support projects beyond the scope of our grants. This year, we are excited to offer sponsorships to:

DISABILIFINANCE

DISABILIFINANCE will empower disabled populations, their parents, and their caretakers with financial competence and confidence through educational webinars on disability issues. These trainings will cover oft-misunderstood financial programs and products like ABLE accounts, Social Security programming, and Medicaid. They will also cover cultural competencies, as parents of disabled children are often not exposed to the social model of disability, cultivating better financial planning for their children past the age of 18 and across their lifetime.

About the founder

Brynn ConroyBrynne Conroy has been writing about personal finance for over 14 years, with a particular focus on populations living at or below median income levels. This has included extensive work with disabled advocates and financial professionals who work with disabled populations.
